NEW to The Michigan Oldies Podcast!

Hey all,

I am pleased to announce that we've added a Feedplayer to http://www.michiganoldiespodcast.com/ . It's easy to find...just scroll down a little ways, and it looks like this:

Put my show and this player on your website or your social network.

Now, you can play all of our shows right there without having to surf or link to the Podango site. Our host account still remains at Podango, and you'll still find the same shows there, but this might make it easier to find and play at the office or on your laptop. If you have a website or even a MySpace page and want to share your passion for rare-but-not-too-over-done oldies, you can even install our FeedPlayer on your website.

Well, we'd think it would be neat.

Don't forget...if you listen via an iPod or iTunes and would like to subscribe, you'll find our iTunes link on our front page as well. More updates and improvements when they become available.

Now, let the Christmas madness continue.

Finally...The Christmas Show is up!

Good morning happy campers!

Pleased to report that the Christmas 2007 edition of The Michigan Oldies Podcast is up and online! Just click on the links to where we keep the shows at Podango.

As of 12-17-07, I tried the http://michiganoldiespodcast.podango.com/ link and it seems to have dead-ended for some strange reason. The shows are still on Podango..the aforementioned address just isn't taking you to them.

(Note: I checked again this morning 12-19-07, and http://michiganoldiespodcast.podango.com is back to normal...must've been a Podango thing)

If you have iTunes, we now have a one-click link that'll get you subscribed to The Michigan Oldies Podcast...on the left side of our web page. One click will do ya.

In the Christmas podcast, I also included an interview with Bruce Winslow at the Dow Museum of Science And Art in Midland (Michigan) about The 1960s...A Cultural Evolution. If you're into original photos of Elvis, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Stones, and lots more, including paintings from Stuart Sutcliffe, who was with the Beatles prior to Ringo and Pete Best (a sixth Beatle?)

If you're in Michigan for the holidays and are looking for a nice little day trip, I highly recommend stopping at the Dow Museum and taking a look. It's inside The Midland Center For The Arts, and you can find out admission and museum hours by clicking here.

Hope you all have a very good Christmas. Stay safe.

The 100 Top Songs from Detroit

I hope it was a happy Thanksgiving for each and everyone of you. Now the REAL fun begins as Black Friday is upon us. Be good little do-bees at the stores today, and play nice.

Ran across this neat article in the Metro Times about the 100 Top Songs from Detroit, and that includes the rest of Michigan, as the ever perservering Question Mark (of Clio) and the late Del Shannon (of Coopersville) made the list. Includes plenty of hits from the 1960s-70s Top 40 era, plus a couple dating back to the '20s and some newer stuff into the 1990s. Read about it here.

WE ARE FINALLY BACK...AND LOADED FOR BEAR!

Hi All,

First off, thanks for your patience and for continuing to check on our progress.

We have now been back up (as a bona-fide podcast) and also back on Cruisin Oldies Radio from the lovely Jersey Shore (thanks to Joey Prout for inviting us back) for just about a month, and the news is good! Our 5000th DOWNLOAD from Podango (which supplies the feed to iTunes) occured sometime last night! Couple that with the Cruisin Oldies Radio listenership, and we have approximately 60,000 listeners worldwide! For all who took a listen...thank you! Let us know you're on board at thoseguys@michiganoldiespodcast.com!

What's coming up? Well, the Halloween Spooktacular continues until tomorrow (Halloween). We will have a new show up November 1, which, incidentally, is the official 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge opening to traffic.

For those of you who are out-of-staters, the Mackinac Bridge connects Michigan's Lower and Upper Peninsulas, making each accessable to the other. It would have been a little difficult getting that Hummer across via canoe.

Also on the way: An interview with the folks at the Dow Museum in Midland, Michigan, regarding their latest exhibit: The 1960s: A Cultural Revolution. Basically, what the Podcast is about, they're about. Music from the Beatles to Dylan, pop culture artifacts, historic photos. If you came of age in the 60s and forgot for whatever reason, take a trip to Midland and relive your misspent youth. The exhibit lasts until December 30th...tickets can be ordered through the Midland Center For The Arts website Here.

And yes, we can't escape it. The holidays are looming. We have Thanksgiving and Christmas shows planned, and we encourage you to make suggestions on what you'd like to hear on the show. I've been pondering doing a "Rust Belt 100 Countdown," but don't know if we'll have the lead time to cook the whole thing up. We may just repeat Dan Fogelburgs' "Same Old Lang Syne" until we're ready to stick our head in an oven, but probably not.

Comments? Suggestions? Post replies here or at thoseguys@michiganoldiespodcast.com.
